'Dominant' definition revived.

Oct. 12--The Commerce Ministry will reintroduce a clear definition of "market dominant" businesses and clarify merger rules to ensure fairness and prevent conflicts of interest involving politicians.

The new minister, Krirk-krai Jirapaet, told senior officials yesterday that the changes were needed to give teeth to the Trade Competition Law.

He said the ministry had drafted definitions for mergers and market dominance several years ago but they were never adopted. Under an earlier draft, a single company that commands more than half of its total market share and has annual sales exceeding one billion baht would be considered …
